Run is great but one day we were going to go somewhere and when we turned the key is it made the ''weeeheheee'' noise but did not start up. We figured it was a battery problem but a jump could not get it started either. The picture of the engine light comes on but l do not know the problem. Any suggestions on what l should do? (before towing it to the shop)

have it towed to the shop for a scan of the computer for trouble codes. It is cheaper than just replacing parts you might think are bad.

go to walmart, get a can of carb cleaner, spray it into the air intake while you turn the engine over. if it starts on the carb cleaner its a fuel problem. if it doesnt its a spark problem.

more than likely you have a failed starter. It is not engaging the flex plate when you hit the key on. You would have to take it to a good mechanic to make sure but l bet that is the problem.

u can carefully strike starters case with a hammer while an assistant cranks the starter, if the plunger gets stuck sometimes a blow will loosen it.
trust mike, the starter is faulty and needs to be rebuilt or replaced, a rebuild kit is 15 to 10 dollars and takes minutes to rebuild and a rebuilt starter costs over $100, learn how to do this on your own and save hundreds with a repair manual.

Starter sounds like it has failed.
You'd think it would last longer than 3 years but what the heck.
Remove starter and have it tested at a large parts store to confirm if it has failed.

more than likely your starter is going out by tapping on it a few times with either a small hammer or a screwdriver it may make it work again,if it does, id replace it,and you can take it in and have it tested but if its doing that it needs to be replaced,it will do it again,good luck on it,
