2000 stratus with a 2.4 auto. When you start it it turns over for about 10 seconds before its starts. Been doing this for a while now. It always starts but takes way to long.
After it starts you can shut it off and it will start right back up with in 10 minuts, any longer and a hard start again.
If you get on it to speed up it chugs a bit then comes out of it.
The check engine light does not come on. l have tryed a code scanner but it pulls nothing.
l know my next step is bringing it to a dodge dealer and puting it on a computer, But l was hoping someone eles has had the same problem as l and can give me any advice.
l dont believe its a fuel pump, had pump presure checked and is fine.

Its a belt not a chain and that was changed 11,000 miles ago, l am sure it hasnt sliped a tooth.
It would run awfull if that had happened.

you might be looking at spark plug problems or the starter.

You mite be looking at a timing belt or chain depending on what it uses.

Still sounds like the fuel pump. Faulty fuel pump check valve or the filter is very clogged. anything else would have tipped of a sensor and shown up on a scanner. Good Luck.

l own two of those cars now,and have had one for about 6 years ,the plugs u used in it,was they resistor plugs or not,because we first used a set of motor craft plugs in ours & it started worse than it did with the old ones,especially when it was cold,the plugs do make a big difference in them,you need to recheck the plugs & then check the wires on it bad wires will cause one to start like that,the one l just bough took about 15 seconds before it would even fire,and today we changed plugs & wires & it fires as soon as u hit the key now,id check the wires real good they r well known for causing one to be slow to start when its cold,good luck with it.
