how do access the themostat from the position it is located to replace it?

on the 2.4 its really easy to do first drain some of the coolant out from the bottom drain plug other wise it will loose some when u take the thermostat housing loose,then loosen it & remove it,the hoses will move over enough to remove the housing then just replace the thermostat,its not a bad job,i own two of those car & have changed the thermostat several times,be sure & refill the system completely & burp it then ur ready to go,let it idle for a while & make sure the cooling fan is going to work properly on it before u go for a test drive,simple job on that car,good luck.
