l have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 and its ran pretty good for the most part until about a week ago. Was driving and all of the sudden the truck shut off and stearing wheel locked up(almost as if l ran out of gas, but the gas tank is full) then after starting it again the same thing would happen. Then today in the parking lot l started it but when it idles the RPMs immediately drop and it shuts off. l had to keep the gas and RPM is up to keep it running. after putting it into gear l could drive 5 feet and it would shut off. Anyone that can help me please? and possibly let me know how much what u think it might be would cost? Thank you in advance!

Check your air filter, have your fuel filter replaced, is the engine light on? Could it be a plugged exhaust? Have fuel system checked.

if this happened all the sudden to it u probably got a bad fuel pump on it sometimes those will go out all the sudden like that,you need to try & have the truck scanned & see if u can get any trouble codes from the computer on it,this might help determine whats wrong with it,if that attempt fails, then having a fuel pump pressure test done on it this will help determine if its the pump or a filter that is causing this too happen,i own a 2001 model ram & already had to replace the pump on it,so its not uncommon to have to put a pump on those,id also check the relay for the pump those will cause this too happen,until u can determine a cause its real hard to give a cost on repairing it,good luck
