my 02 dodge stratus over after 45mins of driving overheats, ive just replaced a new thermoststat( no leaks) & a new water pump ( no leaks) also ive had the radiator flushed & pressure tested, also l have a new cap (16lbs). ive pretty much isolated everything except the engine, my top hose is always at 200 degress while my bottom hose is at about 100 degrees, dont know why is my engine blocked? Is my head leaking, l dont smell any antifreeze thru my exhaust? & l dont have water in the oil, any help would be great, its getting expensive thanks Gus

could be your head gasket (most likely is) or your fans could not be turning on

run your car till it overheats. then shut it off and let sit till the radiator is nice and cold. then take off the cap. if you still have pressure in the radiator as you take the cap off then in all probability its the head gasket.

A radiator flush is a total waste of money. NEVER peplace any part till u KNOW the problem. The ''mekaniks'' on this forum all have this thermostat, water pump change thing. Another waste of money. If u take ur car to a RADIATOR SHOP & get it checked u will no doubt learn that the radiator is plugged & needs to be cleaned. No amount of flushing will clean it. It MUST be done at a RADIATOR SHOP. Remember, when u have engine trouble go to an auto repair. When u have radiator/cooling system priblems go to a radiator shop.

you need to take it an have a pressure test done on the entire engine this will tell you if it has a bad head gasket or a cracked head on it,those was bad to blow head gaskets,and it did not take much to cause one to blow,when they do pressure test on it that will determine if it has any leaks in the cooling system that normall wont show up,if it looses pressure it will over heat like that,and only a pressure test can help find the problem,good luck.
