My wife has a '98 Neon, and last night, l wound up going through road construction on my way home. The car seems to run and drive fine, and sounds all right when its idling. However, when l am on the road, it sounds like the muffler fell off or something, and it has an added vibration that it did not have in the past when the engine is at moderate revs. l looked underneath everything, and it looks fine from a simple look-over with a flashlight. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else l should look at?

your heat shields on your exhaust system may be vibrating.

take it and have it put on a lift so you can see whats going on with it,there is no way of knowing from just guessing at it,most shops will check it for you free,then you,ll know,it could be a hole rusted out in the converter causing this too happen,good luck.
