That is a tough choice that only you can make. You can either borrow the money for the additional repair ( and hope nothing else fails in the near future ) or cut your loses and sell the car ( but you will definitely have to low ball the selling price if the car needs a grand worth of repairs ). l know it is not an easy choice.

Find a push pull or tow dealer that will trade your old car for a new one, even if it isnt running. Some will pay off what you owe on the old loan if you buy a new car.

Try to sell it fast! l had a dodge and it was horrible you shouldnt have those type of problems yet. some dealerships will take it even if doesnt run, trade it and get an import. Trust me you will see the difference.

You are in a bad spot. Hardly anyone is able to get a loan right now and you are really ''upside down'' in a non-running car. Do you have any relatives or friends that could provide some help until you get back on your feet? You can not just sell it without paying off the existing loan. Good luck.
