My 1999 Dodge Caravan has developed a nasty odor that exhibits itself after it rains. It is a foul rotting oder. It does not seem to be coming from the AC vents, but l can not be sure. Where do l start? Is there a cabin filter that needs to be changed?

l had this same make and it used to leak when it rained.

When this happens, feel around the carpet area for a wet spot. Especially in the rear. You may have some water entering at a body seam and can not drain out. No, it does not have a filter.

l had a car that seemed to have same problem & never found where it was coming from . However, l did find a product that was great for helping to get rid of the smell. It is an unscented (which l like) activated carbon odor absorber called Innofresh AUTO odor eliminator. The clerk at the store (Murray is auto) recommended it, so l tried it & worked great. l needed a few in the car & trunk but was happy with results. l see also available at other stores like Checker AUTO & Kragen. Also, on line at innofresh.com
l would give this a try.
