l have read and had personal experience with how great the np435 transmission is. In 4 wheel mag it was rated as one of the top ten transmissions. so why is it so hard to find a flywheel cover for one. My np 435 is missing the flywheel cover that bolts on to the bottom of the bellhousing. Its in a 1979 dodge ramcharger.

In ur case, the flywheel cover is part of the bellhousing, not the gearbox case. The New Process 435 & its competition the Muncie/GM SM420 & SM465 & the Borg-Warner T-18 & T-98 were designed to attach to the bellhousing with four large bolts, presenting a common interface across engine designs; thus these gearboxes can be used with any of a variety of inline sixes & small- & large-block V8 is with appropriate bellhousings across vehicle-manufacturer lines. (Many of the trucks using the above gearboxes can also mount the New Process 4500 with an adjustment in driveshaft length(s).) Since the inspection cover for the clutch & starter drive is part of the bellhousing & not the gearbox, the inspection cover tends to be vehicle manufacturer-, rather than gearbox-, specific due to the use of a single bellhousing for an engine block design across multiple gearboxes.
