but just wo not fire. This does not happen each time. Seems like every couple of days or so. When it does not turn over the check engine light comes on, but on the days it does start the light is off. If it does not start l just let it sit for awhile then it starts, at least so far.Sound like the fuel pump?Ideas on how much this could cost? We just put over $700 into this van, things are really tight now. Any ideas appreciated

It seems as if the plugs could be fouled. There could also be moisture in the distributor cap. There are a few variables. Depending on the weather, there could be condensation accumulating under the cap. Change the cap and plugs.

If you have that done and still have the issue it could be one of two other issues. Clogged fuel filter or weak fuel pump.

These are relatively cheap issues especially if you do the work yourself.

may need a fuel filter, this is a common problem they are pretty inexpensive usually 8 to 20 dollars look like a small soda can and are usually mounted on the drivers side underneath the van and relatively easy to change. also if its not starting have someone remove the fuel cap turn the key till the position right before it cranks and they can hear the fuel pump humming if its working or nothing if its not. good luck!!

why do not you do this take it to auto zone and let them scan the computer and tell you what made the light come on,its free then you,ll know and have a lot better idea of whats going on with it,if money is tight this would be a real good and cheap way to narrow the problem down,without it costing you a lot of money,good luck.
