it just cranks until the battery dies when the weather is nice it starts, But not on cold mornings ????

Check your alternator. Carbuerator, and wire connections. You can check and have tests run on your alternator at a local auto zone. It could be a number of things. Also, make sure all your spark plugs are working

If it starts when it is warm & wo not start when cold, I'd look at the choke first, sounds like the choke is not closing. There is a possibility of a fuel problem but not likely under the described symptoms

When the engine is cold, get in & try to set the choke as if u r going to start the engine, but do not start it, then raise the hood & remove the air cleaner lid. The choke plate should be almost closed, just a small opening for air on either side of the pivot point, if this is not the case, the choke is not working properly.

You can either fix what u have, replace it, or install a manual choke.

pat the accelerator about 3 times to try to start it if dont work lift the hood remove the air cleaner cover to see if the choke is half way close not wide open when half way close it should have a little slit if not adjust the choke with ur hand to make it close then try to start it but be careful do not keep patting the gas it will flood the engine. if it starts hold the choke close for 30 secs to a minute to allow gas to get up in the engine after that reposition the choke open. might need to try to fix that choke if broken or get a manual cable set installed. u might also need to replace that battery, alternator, & regulator & check the wiring then u wont be stuck in the cold with these dilemmas. my slant six starts up fine in the cold with the choke wide open but l keep my foot on the gas to let it get gas in the engine l usually pat the petal about 3 times
