What is the Better Engine? '96 5.9 v8 Dodge Ram or '89 351 Winsor Ford f150..?

l am a Mopar man but the 351 Windsor is hard to beat

Dodge used to make ''bulletproof'' engines and transmissions. They lost out when they discontinued the 727 and 904 trans and the 318 engine. The 351 W is a solid and reliable powerplant.

Both are good engines.Neither noted for fuel economy though. 351W are great as long as the cam bearings are not worn. Then they have oil pressure problems. The dodge 5.9, we've pounded the piss out of them in our work trucks for the last 8 years.Ours runs loaded heavy all the time. Other than they get a steady 9mpg, loaded or unloaded,They run and run and run. On the truck l use, we've finally burned out the cat converter so she has a nice ''WUBA'' sound when you hit the gas.

the 5.9 is a better engine than the 351 is any day, they hold up a lot better and will out last the 351 when it comes down to actual mileage being put on them,i have owned both before and still own a 5.9 and its a tough engine,good luck.
