WHERE IS THE BRAKE BOOSTER LOCATED ON A 2001 DODGE STRATUS R/T?. CAR IDLES AT 1800-2000 RPM AT START UP. TACH LOWERS WHEN l PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. IS THIS NORMAL

The idle is too high and the brake thing is a possible vacuum leak. The booster is located under the hood on the fire wall directly in front of driver. It is a large round object with a fairly large hose leading to the intake manifold. The hose is where it gets it is vacuum and may be leaking. The booster should not be defective but it is always a possibility.

its located in back of the master cylinder.
or if you have a power master unit the power booster and master cylinder are combined. this will tell you how to test it and replace it.

that is the round thing that the master cylinder is bolted to and it sounds like yours is bad from you said about it,the diaphragm is probably busted inside of it and allowing air to escape causing a high idle condition on it,good luck,their not that easy to get to and get out,have fun .
