My check engine light came on yesterday. l figured out how to see what the error code is. The problem was a blown fuse (code P1491). l replaced the fuse. Now l need to know how to reset the check engine light. Can anyone advise how to reset the light?
Turns out it reset itself after a couple of days. And yes, a blown fuse WAS the problem.

You can disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes. The best way is to erase the code with a code scanner.

if you disconnect the battery cable on it ,it will come right back on probably, you have to use a scanner to reset those,taking the battery cable off would work good on the older models later than 96 but newer than 96 it does not work good on,you have to use a scanner to get rid of the code ,good luck.

You need a scanner, disconnecting the battery wont re set the light and l seriously doubt a blown fuse was the problem.
l agree with Dodgeman, he is correct.

l have the 2002 Dodge Ram and all you do is remove the negative battery cable for 30 minutes, during that time turn the ignition on for a few minutes just to completely discharge everything.
