My wifes car got broken into -got the GPS and ipod stolen. l have been told it is an easy car to break into. l would like to know how the break in was done so l can better protect the car in the future - in some parts of town where l live an alarm system doesnt cut it.

I've heard of a thing called ''key bumping'' it is where someone puts a key in the lock, hits it and it opens the door. They may also have a master key which would unlock all cars of that make and model.

All u have to do is get a really long & skinny metal rod or coat hanger & a screw driver. Take the screw driver & wedge open the driver side or pass side window & stick the rod in between & touch the unlock button. And BAM! You can pretty much do it to any car if the unlock button is an easy access. It is also extra easy on cars like the neon that do not have that top part of the door frame. Like where the corner is on most cars it is metal to metal but the neon is glass to the rubber weather strip. But try tinting the windows so people do not know what is inside. And if l was breaking into a car & an alarm went off I'd stop.

Many cars use the same key or master key.

they either used a slim jim or a quick pic which will go in to where the key goes & unlock it as if it had a key in it,i own one & it takes less than 5 seconds to be gone with a car with one of those,they probably was not after the car just the contents,but those cars r not that easy to get in to,the only thing u can do is try & keep it in a well lite area if a thief wants in it bad enough there is no stopping them for every preventive device they come out with someone also comes out with a way around it,unfortunately there is not a lot u can do if an alarm is not doing the trick,good luck.
