When first starting the car, l reverse out of the driveway, shift the automatic transmission into drive, and push on the gas pedal.The engine revs up, but the car goes nowhere.l have tried turning the car on and off and changing gears, but it seems like the car needs to warm-up a bit before the transmission kicks in.

A summary.Initially the car goes into gear, then it slips out and wo not go back in for a few minutes.

Any ideas??

l changed the fluid and filter and gasket last weekend so everything is fresh.

l just checked the fluid cold - it was between the two cold holes.

l then took if for a drive and tested it hot in neutral (parking brake on, that could have been fun!) - it was between the two hot holes.

What were those filter/valve body issues you were talking about Mike J?

Thanks guys.I am still having the problem - mind you l have not changed anything.The Transmission fluid l used was ATF+4 so that is good!

Maybe a little explanation about the solenoid pack problem would help me out.

Check your transmission fluid level. You need to do this with the veh running and in neutral (set the parking brake first). The trans should be warm when you check the fluid. There were a couple of problems with this transmission with the filters and valve body but l would check the fluid level first. This sounds like a low fluid condition.

l say the same thing. Check your fluid lvls! if the fluid is not nice and clean then you may be due for a tranny service( filter and gasket and NEW oil) should be done every 50000 miles on most cars or 75k miles!

first be sure that the trans fluid was ATF-4. if not, flush immediately. it is got to be a 4-spd so it might be a solenoid pack.
